About Ponta d´Ouro
Ponta d’Ouro, which means “Point of Gold,” gets its name from early Portuguese explorers who believed they would find gold here. Instead, they discovered dunes rich in black titanium, with the only “gold” being the stunning sunsets over the long, pristine white beaches.
Situated in the southernmost part of Mozambique, we are easily accessible from South Africa, located approximately 692 km from Johannesburg and 400 km from Durban. We are also just 12 km from the Manguzi (Kosi Bay) border post and about 10 km from the coastline of Kosi Bay and Sodwana. Essentially an extension of South Africa’s Maputaland, Ponta d'Ouro remains a more untouched and pristine destination.
